Especially dogs.
I'm not talking about a dislike. I'm talking about a real, deep FEAR.
For years, anytime we would go to a friends house, I would have to ask them to put their dog up while we were there. She has always had this fear.
This year for Christmas, Ryan surprised his daughter with a teeny tiny Maltese puppy. I am guessing she weight around 2lbs.
Chloe was excited to meet her since she is so small and Chloe felt like she was more in control.
She fell in love with her right away and started asking for a puppy of her own.
Fast forward a few weeks and her dad decides to get a Boxer "puppy". This "puppy" weighs 70lbs. Chloe was, again, terrified. However, after a few weeks she has really warmed up to him and isn't afraid anymore!
So I started looking at dogs! My friend Melissa volunteers at the Collin County Humane Society and I found a dog on their website that I thought was adorable! Melissa helped me get the application process started.
I set up to meet "Peanut" on Saturday.
Little Peanut has some dental problems because her previous owners didn't take good care of her teeth. She will need to have all of her teeth pulled. That actually made me love her even more. She *needed* someone to love her!
Chloe went to her dad's this weekend so I didn't tell her I had planned to go meet the dog.
The second I saw Peanut, I knew she was going to be part of our family.
I called Chloe on the way home to tell her I got her a dog!
She was so EXCITED! I took Peanut over to Chloe's dads so they could meet.
Chloe is so in love with her!
It's weird to me, really. I never thought we would be able to have a dog because of Chloe's fear. It is SO weird to see her holding and loving on a dog!
We met up at the park yesterday so Chloe could play with her.
She will be back home to me this afternoon and she can't wait to play with her new friend!
Here are some photos of our Pekingese, "Peanut".
