Summer!!

It's summer.
Well, actually, halfway through the summer almost!
So...time for another re-cap in case (by some small chance) anyone ever checks in anymore!

Chloe completed the 2nd grade last month.
And you know what? Just like everything else she does, she did it BIG! (**warning - braggy mom ahead!**
Her school held an awards assembly where Chloe brought home 9 awards! I am one proud mama! She received awards for: Good Citizenship, Accelerated Reader Award (she read the most out of her class! I'm so happy she loves to read), The Music Award, Math Facts Award, Spanish Award, Reading Achievement, Keyboarding Award, Perfect Attendance for the last 6 weeks and The A Honor Roll Award for making straight A's ALL year!
She takes after her mama.
Right? ;)

We've been taking it easy this summer.
Last week, Chloe completed VBS at First Baptist and next week we will have VBS at our church!
And one week from today, we will arrive in San Antonio for 2 days before heading to the beach for a few days! Woo hoo!!!
And in just over a month, I will start my new job (SO excited!), followed by Chloe going back to school 2 weeks later.
She is very excited to go back to school and says she is excited to take the TAKS test. (Okay, THAT she did not get from me! ;) )

I don't have much to complain about...life is good! :)

Answered Prayer

I guess I can officially let this out... ;)

Sometimes I have to be very, very patient and tuned in to hear what God is saying to me. And sometimes I have this battle with myself where I ask "is this God leading me or is this ME leading me".
Other times, God is *very* clear in showing me the direction I need to go.

Last month, on a Tuesday night, I was having one of those moments where you stop and reflect on where your life is. And quite frankly, it was a little depressing because my life is really not right where I want it to be. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I needed to take an active approach in changing the things I am not happy with.
I've learned that these major changes/approaches are not things I can do alone. I must rely on God to carry me to and through them. Even the little tiny things that I sometimes think "Oh, I've got this." God wants in on those things, too and I have to make an effort to remember that.
Anyway, that night I began praying. I told God that I wanted a job change.
*Now, let me say that I *love* my current job. LOVE it. However, it is a very part time position and I need more hours and more pay. The struggle here is that my current job (in a church, as a preschool MDO teacher)directly involves Christ. I get to read stories to kids right out of the Bible. I get to talk to them about Jesus. This job allows me to bring glory to God and to let him work through me to reach precious little kiddos!*
Do I want to leave my current job? No. Is it the "next logical step for my life"? Yes, I think it is.
So when I was praying, I asked God to please bring a job that would work with Chloe's school schedule so that I don't have to put her in after-school care. I specifically prayed, "God, I want a job in Chloe's school. But, if that is not where you want me, show me where to go and I will go." I told Him that wherever I go, I want Him to continue to use me to reach kids and to bring glory to His name. I said, "Lord, please make this clear to me because otherwise, I might miss it."

Then I went to sleep.

I woke up to Wednesday. (The very.next.day)
At almost 11:00 the phone rang and the name of Chloe's school was on the caller id.
Never a good thing. I answered, waiting for the nurse to say "Chloe is sick, please come get her."
Except that's not what it was at all.
It was Chloe's PE teacher. She was calling to let me know that the PE Aide position had come available and she knew that I had been wanting a position within the school. She set up and interview for the next day.
I went in on Thursday, interviewed and was offered the job.

So, God, I heard you. ;) Thanks for making it SO VERY clear.

This will be an incredible opportunity for me.
More hours. Better pay. Benefits. And a "shoe in" at the school for when I (one day!) finish my degree.

I will be sad to leave my current job. And my prayer, now, is that God will use me in different ways to glorify Him. I won't be able to open a Bible and tell the PE kids about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. About the miracles he performed. About the creation of the world. But there will be other ways. I will need to make my attitude reflect a positive, loving presence. I will need to ask God for guidance in how to let this new, exciting area of my life bring Him glory. He will show me. And I can't wait! Thank you, God, for this next step in my life.

And thank you, friends and family, for your support, love and encouragement!

Springish

Sometimes I forget that this blog even exists until someone mentions it.

My last post was about Chloe trying out for cheerleader.
Well, she made it. She was SO happy! Her scores were great, especially for a first try out. 11 girls made it and we are looking forward to a great year.

Other things that happened include...

The birth of this precious little boy.
My bff, Kaci, gave birth to Grady James on May 4, 2010. He is a perfectly wonderful little blessing. I can't wait to watch him grow up and see my bff be a mommy!

We went on our first Girl Scout camp out. It was a total blast! There are 107 photos...which I won't post here. Just believe me that it ROCKED!
Just one photo to show you that my baby even camps in style...

We also went to the Roughriders with Girl Scouts.

And we spent a day at the Dallas World Aquarium with our favorites.

All mixed in there we also had: a field trip, cheer classes, girl scout meetings, church, friends over, etc. See why it's so hard for me to keep this updated?? haha

Also, I have some fabulous news to share but that will get a whole separate post of it's own because it rocks that.much.

Um...yeah...hi...

So, I lied when I said I would be better about updating my blog.
Life is busy!

Everything is pretty much the same.
Chloe will try out for 3rd grade cheerleader this weekend!
Wish her luck. I think she will do great but we are both a little anxious!
She is still loving Cheer Athletics and moved up to the Level 2 class a couple of weeks ago. Go Chloe!
She just started a 2nd set of 6-week long art classes. She is loving that.
She wants to play soccer, too. And tennis. And the violin.
I said no. haha

We are loving this Spring weather and trying to make time to spend outside.
We are less than 2 months away from the end of the school year! Yay for SUMMER break!
And in one month, my BFF will have her first baby boy! I CAN'T WAIT!

In 2 weeks we will have our first Girl Scout camp out and I am super excited. It's been years since I have gone camping. I hope Chloe loves it as much as I did as a kid. She has gone cabin camping but we will be in a tent this time!

What else?
Hmmm. Just staying busy with our weekly commitments!
I hope everyone is doing well!

xoxo

Ice, Ice Baby

Have you been to the Gaylord Texan ICE Exhibit?
If not, you need to go!

Chloe and I went with some of our friends a few years ago and we *loved* it!
So this year, I talked my sister and nephews into going with us.
We planned on going in the middle of December but after hearing rumors of waiting in line for 3 hours (so not my thing) we postponed it until January 3rd, which was the last day of the exhibit. We didn't wait in any lines and it wasn't crowded.

So, you know I took 5,000 photos.
Here are a few for your viewing pleasure. ;)

Stef and the kids all bundled up.

Chloe loved the ice slide!

I can feel the cold all over again just by looking at their frozen faces! ha!

My very favorite part is this life-sized ice nativity. It is absolutely beautiful.

The hotel looks amazing at Christmastime!

It is such a neat experience!
And if that wasn't enough photo coverage for you ;) you can see more here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/album.php?aid=141501&id=582646346&page=3
